The vaccine is safe and effective. Possible undesirable effects after vaccination are rare and usually mild. In some casesmild and brief pain, redness and/or swelling may occur at the site of injection. To ease the pain, apply ice or alcohol to the aching site.

Rarely, one or a combination of other undesirable effects may occur, such as tiredness, headache, mild fever, swollen lymph nodes, aching joints and muscles, fatigue.

These effects usually pass in one or two days. You may take medication against pain and fever.

Vaccine components may cause allergic reactions.

In case of severe allergy you should immediately seek medical treatment.

Vaccination schedule:

1. Pre-exposure immunization

Primary-vaccination:
3 x one dose of vaccine on days D0, D7, D21 or D28, followed by a booster one year later (W.H.O. recommendations)

Boosters:
One injection (dose) every 5 years or when the titre is found to low.

2. Post-exposure immunization

Non-vaccinated individuals:
5 x one dose of vaccine on days D0, D3, D7, D14 and D28

Fully vaccinated individuals within the previous 5 years:
2 x one dose on D0, D3
